An interesting and clever read. Seems a fairly simple premise to begin with but there are times, when engrossed, that the narrative takes you down a rabbit hole of metaphorical intrigue without you realising it, although nothing really happens which is fine, some books especially with writing as breath-taking as Nabokov's don't always need a galloping narrative but a couple of physical twists would have been good. Further, I came to quite dislike Sebastian Knight by the end of the book and was becoming slightly irked with the narrator's slavish hero-worship of him.
But as ever, Nabokov's writing is so beautifully constructed, he could be writing a shopping list and I would find it compelling.
